In today's 24/7 media environment news stories move quickly, so we need to
be able to respond quickly and effectively when a story breaks. Republic's
Urgent Response Network has been set up to support our media and lobbying activities when a story requires a rapid and wide-reaching response.
By signing up to the Urgent Response Network you can help strengthen our media presence - sending emails or texts to news programmes, calling radio phone-in debates or writing to the press. With some issues additional parliamentary lobbying can also be important, to quickly reinforce our message to MPs and ministers.
Urgent Response Actions may include:
- Sending a letter to your local or national newspaper
- Responding to radio phone-ins
- Sending emails to news programmes, supporting the republican point of view
- Writing to your MP, asking for their view on a particular issue
- Responding to particular articles online or in national newspapers
By signing up to the Network you will receive:
- All our press releases, as they are sent to the press
- Urgent requests for you to email TV or radio programmes, or to participate in radio phone-in debates
- Notification of online polls and debates, so you can log on and put across the republican point of view
- Requests to write to your MP or to a minister, helping with our crucial lobbying work
