Dear Editor
Like many other people around the country I'll be marking Republic Day on Tuesday June 2nd.
This national day of action is co-ordinated by Republic, the campaign for an elected Head of State. It is an opportunity for republicans across the UK to take action and express their opposition to the monarchy.
The monarchy is unaccountable, undemocratic and hugely wasteful. It also gives almost limitless power to politicians, who use the Queen's powers to bypass the democratic process.
I believe the British people deserve better than this. That's why I'll be marking Republic Day on June 2nd.

Your sincerely

I hope you will agree that our constitution is in serious need of drastic reform. I also hope that you will add your name to the growing list of MPs who now back Republic, the campaign for an elected head of state.
